All,
I'm not sure if anyone uses this practice, however, I just wanted to let you know about my experience with them. Prior to my daughter arriving, I did research on any and everything from organic baby food to pediatricians. I decided to go with Takoma Park Pediatrics mainly because my daughter's alternative vaccination schedule was supported by the practice, or so they would lead me to believe. Today at my daughter's six month appointment, I was told to pick my child's record up and leave the practice. I wouldn't be upset IF this wasn't something I had discussed with them prior to taking my daughter there. Dr. Sadhasivam chastised, made fun of, and gave me an impromptu quiz on my knowledge of vaccinations in front of two first year residents. So as the residents chuckled in the background with Dr. Sadhasivam antics, I was completely baffled. Was this an intervention or was this make fun of the lady who chose the alternative vaccination schedule day? I am a highly educated 34-year-old woman and I have never had anyone speak to me the way Dr. Sadhasivam spoke to me today. Today wasn’t the first time Dr. Sadhasivam expressed his opinion about my daughter’s alternative vaccination schedule. The first time Dr. Sadhasivam called me irresponsible for not following the CDC vaccination recommendations and said what I was doing was a form of child neglect. I believe his personal experience has blurred his professionalism. Being a parent is difficult. There are decisions we have to make that will impact the rest of our children’s life. We don’t need to feel pressure from those we look to for guidance as it pertains to the health of our children. No parent should ever be subjected to that type of behavior exhibited by Dr. Sadhasivam, no matter how passionate he claims to be about children; it doesn’t excuse his behavior. My choice to follow an alternative schedule was not made easily. My daughter will be getting all the recommended vaccinations, just not at the recommended time. I just wanted to pass this information on, just in case someone else is trying to make a decision about Takoma Park Pediatrics. Best, Yashieka |
