Eharmony prides itself of being able to match people with similar interests and personalities but i find it totally unreliable. Might work better for you.

found eharmony to be completely hit or miss on this. also found the many steps and multiple choice questions you go through before you can talk ridiculous. (on a saturday night would you rather go dancing at a club or sit home and watch tv by your self?...)

OKC is so-so but I wouldnt expect much from most of these dating sites; especially the ones that are free.

I found that some of the same women from OKC were also on POF, eHarmony, etc with different profiles.

Lots of creepers on OK Cupid. Way more than Match.

I find POF and OK Cupid a lot better than Match and Eharmony! Keep your standards high, dont give out your cell # until at least 3 messages have been exchanged...and meet up for drinks! I have been on the site about a month and I am now casually dating (non sexual) 3 different men with degrees, no drama/baggage, all of their teeth, and great personalities!
I think the key is being honest and carefree. Understand that talking to someone online is not a good way to know them!
Always voice verify (talk to someone on the phone) before meeting in person, but dont drag out a meetup...people lose interest online very quickly!
All in all, I've enjoyed my online dating experience and the people I have met!

EHarmony has many more women than men and thus is better for men. They also will "match" people with others in their database who are no longer active members (meaning may no longer be single and looking), but you won't no that.

POF, OK Cupid, Match - I think they're all owned by IAC, though I think they all use different algorithms. One thing I've learned is that the algorithms look not at the criteria you put in (i.e. age, race, religion), but at the profiles you actually click on. So if you're clicking on profiles of older men, they may start matching you with older men even if you've set an age cutoff.

I had a lot of bad dates out of eHarmony - there were a lot of damaged men. It's expensive and not worth it. I'd go with Match.com.

Free dating sites are the worst, you get what you pay for. The folks I know on OK cupid keep getting total freak shows. Maybe the weirdos know they wont match up with anyone on other sites. I think you want to go with eharm (if you are more on the conservative side) or chemistry. I met my lovely husband at age 36 on chemistry after a lot of boring dates from chemistry.

I met my husband on Eharm and he was the first and only date I went on from the site ..... so it's not all bad! I agree though - the process is a bit exhausting with the silly questions.

From what I hear the selection and sheer numbers on Match may be greater, if a bit more of a "meat market".

you're way too old for okcupid. it's 20's-30's. Sorry.
