| DH and I went on the maternity tour at Sibley yesterday and learned that as of July 1st the private room fee will be going up to $290 a night! I was willing to pay $245 but this recent jump has pushed me over the edge. I'll be looking for a new OB / Hospital tomorrow. |
Go deliver at the Grand Hyatt. Might be cheaper. |
| We paid over 500/night for a tiny private room when we delivered. Granted, it was in a NYC hospital, but comparatively, 290/night sounds reasonable to me. |
| Holy Cross worked for me but others have had less enjoyable experiences there. |
| Gtown has private rooms. |
| $45 pushes you over the edge to look for a new hospital and OB? Just wait until your kid is born. |
I thought the same thing! |
Seriously! This has to be the most ridiculous post I have ever read. |
LOL! Plus you can order room service instead of being told not to eat or drink anything! |
|
Fairfax only costs $25 for a private room if you do the baby and me package (they haven't refused a private room to someone who has signed up for this package in seven years or something!)
|
| That is nuts. Thank God for VHC. |
| No extra fees at Georgetown for a private room - all they are all private. Problem is, you have to go with their OB practice if you want to deliver there, none of the private practices routinely deliver there. |
|
That's one of the reasons I'm not delivering at Sibley, even though I live very close. I chose GW instead.
And yes, I think $45 can "push you over the edge" - it's not about the money per se, but principle. If all the hospitals in the area offer private rooms at no extra cost, why choose the one hospital that makes you pay extra? $290 is not an inconsequential amount of money for most people. |
| Is there something better you get at a private room at Sibley that at a private room in the other hospitals? I'm really asking -- I'm just wondering how they can have such a policy when so many other DC hospitals don't have an extra fee. |
No one said $290 was inconsequential. But is $45 enough to have you change your OP practice during pregnancy? |
