Gnats!

They seem to have arrived extra early this year in Northern Virginia. I was wondering if anyone knew a way to get rid of them?

They are EVERYWHERE. Best thing is to stay inside.

Go Nats! Strasburg on Thursday.

Do you mean those little fruit flies? They are like a plague in my house! They dive bomb my face while I'm watching TV in the living room, I'm finding them in my clean dishes in the kitchen, and I kill about a dozen of them in the bathroom every time I'm in there.

Before you think I'm a sloppy housekeeper, I've never had bugs in my house, ever. (Except the occasional nasty camel cricket.)

We've had them since about Christmas, and I've often wondered if they came in on the many poinsettias we had around the house, since they were initially (and oddly) worst in the living room.

Yes! They are terrible. (Not fruit flies -- these are outside.) I was weeding in the yard and they were everywhere, flying into my eyes, my nose, my ears. Hate these things!! They seemed heftier than usual too.

I also have them in my house and just found two dead ones on the kitchen counter this morning as I was making my coffee. I've found them in my son's bottle before and luckily noticed it before I gave it to him. So gross! And we've never had this problem before.

Fricking gnats. We're getting swarmed whenever we go outside. Can exterminators do anything about these? What about mosquitoes? That hasn't started too badly in our yard yet, but based on last year (really bad) and this winter (too warm to kill eggs) I'm worried about how bad the mosquitoes are going to be...

Mosquito Squad's spray kills gnats and Mosquitos. We used them last year, despite hating to spray those chemicals all over our yard, and we could finally go outside for more than 5 minutes without being attacked. We're already paid up for this year

Try Cutter outdoor fogger. Warm weather means more bugs.

Aren't these foggers & sprays awful for the kids to breathe and the environment? I know gnats are annoying, but it seems those old 70s bug zapper lights would be better than a fogger.

No they are fine, USE Both the foggers and zapper lights. Actually the zapper lights might be worse because it will attract more

Ugh - these are the worst! When gardening, I wear a hat that I spray with deet - keeps them from swilring around my head. We have a 2nd story deck (walk out basement) so bugs don't really bother us there.

Use a fan or two blowing accross your deck will keep them from swarming and gives you the bonus of being able to enjoy a cool breeze

The directions on the fogger say to spray 20 minutes before going outside. We have found if you do it again in about 7-10 days it takes care of the problem for months. I do not spray near the vegetable garden.
