Homemade ginger ale - any good recipes out there?

I LOVE the ginger ale from Big Bowl, especially the one with green tea! I want to try to make my own - any good recipes out there that you have tried already?

I don't use a recipe, but I make a ginger simple syrup and then add it to either regular or fizzy water.

Add about 1/4 cup of diced ginger to 2 cups water. Simmer for about a half hour. Strain, measure the water that's left, and add an equal amount of sugar. Boil for about 7 minutes.

Cool and add water to dilute. The syrup will keep in your fridge for ages.
