Restaurant Quality Tortillas?

Anonymous
I'm not super in the kitchen so I'm not really looking for a recipe unless it is foolproof. I just want to buy some really amazing restaurant tortillas! I went to Silverado over the weekend and took some home as leftovers. They are fantastic, even made myself a quesadilla out of one. Anyone know of a place I could buy high quality tortillas? TIA

Not to threadjack, but I have been wanting to try to make my own, so if you do have a great recipe feel free to post one.

OP, I just buy them in the grocery store-- they are fine but I can say they are fantastic.

OP here - this is what I looked at today: http://seddy5.typepad.com/blog/2011/05/homemade-tortillas.html

I don't think the grocery ones are fine, however...to me they taste terrible when I compare them to those restaurant ones! I'd love to find some that are just as good. Maybe WF or TJs?

I think the one from Trader Joes are great. I think others must feel the same since they are sol out half the time I need them.

I would bet you can buy them from a Mexican restaurant. I bought some chips and salsa from Rio Grande for a party, they were amazing.

I am hoping someone will post a place. In San Diego I became spoiled with the Tortillarias, where all they make is homemade, fresh tortillas.

If you are in MD, you can buy them if you ask at the Mexican restaurant in the Rio complex in Gaithersburg (Rio Grande? Unclue Julios? I'm completely blanking on the restaurant name). If you aren't eating there you can just walk up to the bar and ask. They make them fresh on site.

Trader Joe's Handmade Tortillas (make sure they say Handmade as the other ones aren't as good) are pretty good for grocery store bought ones.

Trader Joe's Handmade Flour Tortillas are the best. And I grew up eating Tex Mex in South Texas, so I know tortillas.

Whole foods are really good especially the whole wheat ones. You can also buy good ones from the latin deli at eastern market.
