Michelle Obama and Jill Biden booed at Nascar race

Anonymous
The Empress MIchelle's husband and none of her family has served in the US miklitary. At least, Jill Biden's step son has served. In any case, what office does either hold that should be respected? None. Michelle serves dinner to the homeless in $500.00 athletic shoes. For the honeless and hungry, I offer thanks for the crumbs from your table, Empress Bountiful. Also the veteran and his family were not booed. Another fact is that the "rednecks" you look down on are the ones who make up a large segment of the military. When you've served your country in its armed forces then you have the right to criticize, until then, shut up. Speaking as someone whose family has served this country in the military and diplomatic corps for many generations.

I think it's tacky, uncivil and unkind to boo anybody.

But, in this case, the two women were standing with a veteran and his family and Obama and Biden were there to promote military families. So, I don't think the story is a bunch of yahoos booing two women that I would expect them to boo. Rather, it is the fact that a crowd of red-blooded American patriots decided to boo a veteran during an effort to rally support for military families. If it had been liberals booing the military, Fox News would have it on endless loop and Congress would be considering a resolution of condemnation.

With the super wankers failing to reach an agreement on the budget, the automatic cuts are scheduled to take a chunk out of the military's hide. We will be hearing a lot from conservatives about how this is tragedy that must be reversed and how liberals don't support the military. But, this episode shows just how little conservatives really care about those who serve their country.

The article states that Michelle Obama and Jill Biden were introduced they received a smattering of boos. When the military veteran was introduced, he received resounding applause.

I watched the video. The soldier was introduced first and received applause. Then he, his family, Obama, and Biden were all presented to start the race. That when the boos started. Obviously, the boos were aimed at Obama and Biden. But, the presentation of the grand marshals -- the announcement that was booed, included the soldier and his family. Moreover, the purpose of the 1st and 2nd ladies at the event was not a love of auto racing, but to help support military families. It is impossible to argue that the boos were for a specific purpose separate from the context of what was happening. The bottom line is that an effort to bring attention to the need to support military families was booed. Also, based on what I could hear in the video, it was hardly a smattering of boos. It was quite loud and I couldn't hear any applause.

Apparently that diplomacy hasn't rubbed off.

Interesting - the only ones permitted to criticize the military are former soldiers? OK. Are you a former member of Congress, or perhaps a former senator? A former judge? One of the former Presidents? No? Then using your "logic," you should just "shut up" and leave the political forum immediately.

Ridiculous notion, isn't it?

Sorry, but I will rely on the Constitution for my rights to free speech rather than your conditions. I will criticize whomever I damn well please. Right now, I feel like criticizing you. Michelle Obama has more class in her pinky then you have in your entire body.

Booing them illustrates the class level/upbringing of the Nascar audience and only confirms the stereotype people have of them. Pathetic, but not surprising.

I never booed Laura Bush and would have considered it highly inappropriate if I were with someone who was doing that.

Just out of curiosity, what have you done?

Until he was revealed as liberal, gay, or not a fan of Ayn Rand. Then the crowd tore him to bits.

Booing is only the tip of the iceberg.
The supercommittee, at the behest of Republicans such as John McCain, has been advocating cutting the military's health care benefits. Because while the interests of Raytheon, Lockheed Martin are sacrosanct, the actual people who serve are there to be thrown under the bus. Remember McCain was also the guy who opposed the GI bill on grounds that we can't afford it.

Watch it on Colbert, and laugh...or cry?

If you're a service member and you vote Republican, you are only getting what you deserve

Do you not understand that the president and Panetta support changes to Tricare? Colbert doesn't seem to get it either. I'm a Democrat, BTW. Google the NYT and Tricare to read more about this.

What branch did YOU serve in, and do you set off a metal detector every time you go through airport security? Then YOU need to STFU.

In this season of Thanksgiving, I have yet another thing to give thanks for, that iI have never seen, nor will ever see, your entire body, clothed or naked, nor The pinky of Empress.
