What's the best way to get there?
DH and I took Wisconsin Ave from downtown and traffic was rough. is there a better way? |
Take Military Road to 16th Street; or take Rock Creek Parkway |
Uh, just cross Western Avenue and you'll be in DC. |
I wouldn't take Military since there's construction at Military and Nebraska. |
Reno or Connecticut. Jump on Rock Creek and you are there.
|
Where in DC and what time are you leaving? Going with traffic on Connecticut in rush hour is pretty good. |
We usually take Reno all the way down, then Massachusetts to either Connecticut or further down to 14th. |
Ok. Where downtown, exactly? I am a traffic ninja, but I need details. Also, exactly what time of day are you driving? |
Wisconsin to Mass Ave to downtown is much faster than Wisconsin to M to downtown. |
How about from Chevy Chase DC to Chinatown? |
Take Wisc to Western to Dalecarlia to MacArthur to Canal to Whitehurst Freeway to "K" Street. 20-25minutes tops, at rush hour. Or better yet METRO. 15 minutes and listen to iTunes or meditate on the way. |
really? 25 min during rush hour?
Same on the way back? What about during non rush hour? |
Yes, as I'm realizing from reading all these posts there are multiple ways to get downtown and it depends on exactly where you're going and what time of day and what day. On some days I would take Military to North Capitol and go south. On other days, I would take Reno to Tilden to Rock Creek Park. On other days I would take Wisconsin to 42nd (I think) to Nebraska to Foxhall to Canal to Whitehurst Freeway.
But, yes, taking Wisconsin the whole way would be a drag. Good luck, OP! This is one of the great pastimes of living in DC - sharing your routes around the city. |
BS. This only works at 7 am before all the schools along MacArthur have their carpool drop offs. |
Oh no. What, a painful commute in DC? But we've all read over and over about how great it is to live in DC because of the short commute?! Could it be that getting from one side of DC to the other is as time consuming as getting from Arlington to DC? Just askin |
