My DD turned 5 months last Friday and guess what I got as a little present. Yep, my menstrual cycle. WTH? I BF her and pump some during the day while she's with the nanny (no supplementing) and she get's one feeding (cereal, etc...) at 6:00 PM. Just curious what everyone else has experienced.
Thanks! Christina |
| 8.5 months for me, but I know some people who EBF and got it as early as 3 months. I know, no fun, sorry! |
| I EBF and got mine at 6 mo PP. |
| I work full time and EBF baby - pump three times a day. First time 13 months post partum, one month after I stopped pumping. This time, I'm 11 months post partum, and still haven't gotten a period. Still pumping three times a day. |
| I got mine at 13.5 months (baby is 14 months now and breastfeeding all the time). |
| 7 months. But I think it depends on frequency of feedings. When babies start to sleep consistently longer periods of time at night without nursing, it is more likely that mother will get her period. |
| I got mine at 6 or 8 wks!! DD was at that point EBF. The return of my cycle coincided with a period where DD began sleeping 5-7 hour period at night. Of course, at 6 mos, she no longer does this, but AF is still here. It sucks! |
| EBF - first menses at 17 months pp |
OP here. Thanks everyone, it makes me feel a little better knowing that it can make a difference when baby is sleeping through the night. DD sleeps (and I rarely pump at night) on average 10 to 11 hours a night, so all in all I guess having a menstrual cycle is easier to deal with than baby not sleeping.
Have a great weekend! |
| 19 months. About 1 month after he started sleeping through the night and I stopped pumping during the day. |
| I'm 8 months PP and no period. Baby (who is still BF) wakes up 1-2 times per night to feed. |
|
OP, I was just like you - exclusively BF/pumping (no solids at that point) and got it back at 5 months. Drat!

I actually wish I had mine - I was exclusively pumping, finally dried up, but am still waiting.
So desperate and anxious to conceive #2! |
| I'm at 14.5 months and have had only one period at 13 months (6 weeks ago). now nursing one- two times per day. Like PP, I'm waiting b/c anxious to start working on #2 ! |
To the 2 PP. You may not have to get a period to conceive a child. This may not be true for everyone. But my Mom went ~3 years without a period: pregnant with me, BF, pregnant with my brother, BF. Then my parents decided to use birth control
I got my period at 9 mo. I was no longer EBF. |
