Daycare in Bethesda?

| I am unexpectedly starting a new job at Bethesda Naval Hospital and will need full time care for my 6 month old. Any reccomendation for infant daycare in Bethesda? Any chance I'll even get a spot or are the waiting lists insane? Thanks in advance! |

| I do not have firsthand experience but I heard good things about the Family Daycare Academy in Bethesda. We wanted to go there but we realized it was not logistically feasible when we moved. They are located on east-west highway. The lists are pretty insane so put your name down early. |

| Search this forum and you'll find prior threads on this question - Children in the Shoe and Childtime and Wonders, I believe, all have DT Bethesda daycares. You should also investigate the centers affiliated with NIH and other federal facilities in the area - I live nearby and was at another federal agency, and was discouraged from even bothering to apply due to the length of the list. However, your status at the Naval Hospital may well give you some priority at these nearby center(s). |

| There is a new center opening at Christ Church Lutheran. Because it's new, it may have spots. Search for prior threads about this change in the daycare provider at that center. As a federal employee, I'd also suggest you contact Georgetown Hill Early School at the NRC building (it's in Rockville but just a few metro stops from the Navel Center). They usually have a wait list but it's worth a call. |

| I toured last week and loved the current location on wilson lane. the infant room was bright and cheery and well equipped. i was told that no tours will be offered at their new location until september (which is why i stopped by their wilson lane center). the website is www.starcdc.com. |

The daycare on base is apparently GREAT- at least for infants- and VERY affordable. You should get in easily since you are an employee.
