Best place to register?

I'm trying to decide where to register? There's so many to pick from-Target vs. Babies R Us vs. Toys R Us vs. Amazon.com. We only plan on getting essentials. Where would you recommend?

I don't know anything about registering on Amazon, but among the other three, I would pick Babies R Us. They have the biggest selection.

When I registered, I did both Babies R Us and Target. However, I only did that because of location. My mom had a shower for me in my home state, and they don't have Babies R Us anywhere near there. I didn't want everyone to have to order online and pay shipping, so I split my registry between the two.

Target has a pretty big selection so don't be swayed. True, they may not have as much crap as wiper warmers like Babys R Us (and if you are just registering "essentials" you don't need to worry about extra baby clutter), but there is quite a selection at Target especially online.

Plus, Target isn't nearly as overpriced as Babys R Us.

Just my experience...

Congrats.

I would go with target. That way you can pick things for you like slippers? that are not baby related but you could use/need also.

There is also Buy Buy Baby...

I completely disagree about Target. I registered at Target and wished I had not. The return policy is a total pain and although they have have a broad selection online, they do not have that selection in the stores. Stuff I registered for was also frequently out-of-stock in the stores. The online shipments also took forever to get to me - sometimes over a month. I would totally go with Babies R Us without a doubt. I also liked Buy Buy Baby.

Hi there! Since I spend quite a bit of time in baby stores, I have some opinions!

Target does have a decent selection of products and you can definitely get your essentials there. However, their return policy is abysmal. You may only return things 3 times per year I believe without a receipt. Invariably, receipts don't make it with the gifts or they get lost.

BRU and BBB are both good "big box stores" with a wide variety of strollers, car seats, high chairs and different patterns. The sales staff tends to be more knowledgeable about baby products since that's all that they sell. BRU has more stores nationwide so if family is out of state then that's a bonus.

My personal choice for best baby store in the metro area is Great Beginnings out in Gaithersburg off of 270. The store is bright, well organized, with a huge inventory of furniture, strollers, car seats, safety gear, etc., etc. The staff is truly a pleasure to work with. It is a schlep out there but I think the customer service is worth the trip. They have recently improved their website and people can easily order things online for you (same for BRU and BBB).

Amazon also has a pretty good selection but I think actually going into the store and trying out the products is quite helpful before your register. Their selection may also be reduced as far as specific patterns and brands go.

Good luck and have fun!

Amazon always has deals for free shipping, they have a wide selection, and many items are sold for MUCH cheaper than Babies R Us. For example, the Original Baby Bjorn is $54 at Amazon and a reduced price of $79.99 at Babies R Us.

Just be aware that items are sold through many different vendors. If items are selected from multiple vendors, there may be multiple shipping charges. However, when items are sold directly thru Amazon they generally have a spend $25, get free shipping deal going on.

I'd check out the bigger items you are considering registering for in person and then price compare to see which registry you'd like to add it to. I registered at Amazon.com and really was pleased with it.
