Really so when was the last time dividends were lower than 15%. Oh 1953 you say? When were corporate taxes last lower? 1940? Tax rates are getting better not worse. |
we are in a competitive world now. it's a race to the bottom on taxes, but if the job base grows, the government increases revenue. you can raise taxes and lose revenue as well. when you raise taxes it reduces the drive of many to get rich. it is good for everybody when it is easy for prople to get rich. it is better to have a high death tax(i.e. warren buffet) than make it difficult for people making 250k to accumulate wealth. Obama really hates people who make 250k and doesn't want too many of them since they are small business and resist authoritarian government. he likes the warren buffets since they are few and can be controlled quickly. |
Tie corporate tax rates to the unemployment rate.
If they won't hire Americans, they can fucking pay for the social welfare system that'll prevent them from being deposed 1789-style. |
You can't have it both ways. Corporations are separate legal entities, with the rights and responsibilities of legal entities. So, when they take it $$, it's taxed as income. And when they pass earnings along to shareholders, that's also a transfer to another legal entity, so no it's taxed again (and should be taxes as ordinary income as well, but that's a different discussion). |
If you work for a corporation and pay tax on your salary, how is that different from the investor paying tax on a dividend? Or how about the corporation paying tax on income from my purchase made with money I already paid tax on?.
When money comes to some (real or legally fictive) person, tax is collected, independent of where that money has traveled befor it got to that person. |
1) Farmer buys tractor, with tax.
2) John Deere pays salesman. Salesman pays income tax. 3) Salesman buys corn, with tax. 4) Supermarket buys corn from farmer. Farmer pays income tax. Forget double taxation - our socialist government is taxing us infinitely! |
How original. Bring back the Laffer Curve. You must have been in diapers back then, but those of us who were adults back then know a joke when they hear it. I'm pretty sure that a few hundred bucks of taxes is not going to set back these people earning a quarter of a million dollars a year. Tell you what, though, when you can get your authoritarian government's hands off of gay people and give them marriage rights, and when you can get your authoritarian government's hands off of reproductive rights and guarantee the right to abortion, we'll see about your tax cut. Until then stop the fife and drum crap. You're not Thomas Paine, just a plain old pain. |
Anyone remember how stupid Kanye West sounded when he said George Bush hates black people? It's what I think of everytime someone tries to use "Obama hates X" to support for some brainless argument. This (not really) news that Repbulicans are eager to raise taxes on the working class is at least consistent with the ironic storyline that has corporate interests bankrupting America. |
There is one poster who says "Liberals hate" and "Obama hates" all the time. He's projecting. He is a bitter man who has a lot of hate in his heart. His posts show it. |
