Preterm Labor complications. What is normal?

Anonymous
On July 5th, I was 29 weeks and sent to the hospital having contractions. They stopped them after 6 hours. And about two days ago I was back in the hospital having mild contractions, which only lasted about 2 hours and they stopped and they sent me home. I am dilated in between 1 and 2 CM currently. I am 33 weeks, and have been having really bad pelvic pressure, and sharp pains. These usually accure more at night, and off and on during the day. I know the doctor said pelvic pressure is normal, but I wanted to see if anyone else is experiencing the same symptoms. Sometimes when I stand up, I feel as if the baby is just pushing to come out, and its very uncomfortable. Yes, I am being very paranoid about every ache and pain because I don't want this little girl to come out yet. Just wanted some people's opinions. Maybe it will help me feel better. (This is my first baby)

Complications aren't normal. If you're having symptoms go see your OB. Having had a preterm baby myself, if I did not go to the hospital out of concern my baby would likely not be here today.

I am 33 weeks and don't have any of the symptoms you are talking about -- a little bit of pelvic pressure, but no feeling like the baby wants to come out. I would definitely call your OB and if there is any question get over to the hospital. Good luck -- I hope everything is okay!

Call the Dr.'s office to check in, but be ready for them to send you to the hospital for an NST. It's a better safe than sorry approach and what any OB office should tell you to do. I felt like that with my 1st 2 kids and at 29 weeks I feel that way with #3 now, so I can sympathize. If you don't feel regular contractions and don't want to spend the night in the hospital, I'd say stay in bed until Monday if you can & then call them. Good Luck!
