Has your DC experienced teething rashes that look like allergic reactions? I'm thinking that saliva might be causing some redness and swelling. Sound familiar? TIA. |
Definitely normal. My son got them from constant drooling. the only way to get around it is to wipe the drool/saliva with a clean wet cloth each time. Not very practical, but it might cut down some on the redness/swelling/irriation. |
I have seen it turn into a fungal infection, so watch for the "ringworm" look. If it is just irritation, there is not much you can do other than try to keep it as dry as possible.

The drool from DD's mouth when she was teething not that long ago made its way into her neck creases so be sure to keep that area dry too.
It'll pass as soon as the teeth push through so hang in there... |
Thanks for posting this! My DD also has a bit rough skin and reddish in color on her lower part of her face. I thought it was from the foods she eats (if we don't wipe her face between each bite) but it may be from the perpetual drool, I guess! |
Our DD had the teething rash combined with the cereal all over her face, which the doctor said could be caused by both things plus all the wiping of the drool and the food can irritiate the skin. He told us to put a little hydrocortisone on it and it would go away. We did and it worked. |
My DS has this rash from drool as well - he also has very sensitive skin. Our Ped told us to pat the area dry as opposed to wiping - the wiping can worsen the irritation. |
DS got this, too. I used aquaphor on the affected skin, which seem to really help. |
Anyone know - would the rash make sunscreen uncomfortable? DD HATES HATES HATES when I put sunscreen on her chin and cheeks (the dryer parts of her body). Or is this just normal aversion to having goo smeared all over her face? ![]() |
