Transferring to a different public school

Hi,

Has anybody tried to transfer his/her child to another public school?
Would it be possible?

only if it's truly a hardship case, you've moved, or the school has missed AYP for three years

What if one child is in a magnet program? I've seen people transfer their other child to the regular program so the kids can be at the same location.

This says that absent a demonstrated "unique" hardship, transfer is not allowed for a sibling of a child going to a magnet program.

Interesting, but I've seen several cases of this at our school. I guess the principal must have some discretion.

Or maybe they have a unique hardship to which you are not privy.

One in magnet, one hardshipped in. Most wouldn't have any idea. Principal had no discretion or say. All done straight through the county office.

I've known principals who have had a final say. It's not always through OSP.
