I love "Momma Zen" by Karen Maezen Miller. I've also heard "Hand Wash Cold" by the same author is good, but I haven't read it. |
I am also finding Birth Partner to be very helpful. I saw it recommended on a seperate DCUM feed and picked it up from the county library. I also was given/recommended Breast Feeding Made Easy. Haven't started yet, but it looks like it will be good.
Also, my husband really likes The Expectant Father, if that is useful. Thanks for asking this. It's very usefull! |

Great for maternity clothing sales |
1. The Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy -- this is for YOU and your mental sanity. It is laugh out loud yet quite down to earth and helpful
2. John Mayo Guide to Pregnancy and Childbirth (very medical/technical, but helpful) 3. What to Expect the First Year (for after baby is born sooooooo fabulous) Note that I am NOT recommending What to Expect When you Are Expecting. A horrible book that will scare FTMs more than help them. I really do believe that. Enjoy!!! ![]() |
Also my husband enjoyed reading Baby 411
Oh and get Baby Bargains for yourself to help with shopping for baby and getting Nursery set up!! |
I pair the weekly Babycenter e-mails with the Alphamom Zero to Forty calendar--nice balance of research and humor. My husband also really likes them.
Besides that, I hang out here just to see that other people are freaking out about the same things I am and to anticipate issues along the way. Of the birthing books we've looked at, we really like The Birth Partner, but have not actually been through birth yet to really have the test of experience. |
I'll second The Happiest Baby on the Block, and add The Baby Whisperer. |
Pregnancy - the Girlfriends Guide
Baby - Baby 411 is awesome for quickly understanding what's going on. Happiest Baby on the Block was a lifesaver for us. Both are quick reads, which was key for me. |
