Expectant and Postpartum Moms
First time mom and due in Nov. Looking to take about 4 months maternity leave. When and HOW do I start looking into in-home daycares? Due i just call and visit every one? Is there a good website that rates them? Any recommendations as to some good ones? Thanks for any and all help.
Arlington County has a great website dedicated to in-home family daycare providers...they have a map, plotting out all of their locations, and also a list of providers with current availabilities. I'd say start researching now, but know that you might not line anything up until a few months out. I also got referrals from the Infant Toddler Daycare network. They refer you to providers that have elected to be part of their network...I like that model a lot since there is an extra layer of oversight for the daycare in addition to what the county does.
I'm also a FTM due in November and have been told by several people not to bother looking for in-home care until the baby is born. The problem is that you have no idea who will actually have openings this far out.
