pregnancy massage

My neck & back are killing me. I tweaked my neck a few weeks ago, & saw the Dr who told me there was basically nothing to be done since I can't take flexeril.

It still hurts every time I sit at my desk at work. I changed my office chair, raised my monitor, etc. So, now I'm thinking I need more drastic measures.

Anyone had a good massage during pregnancy? Recommendations would be much appreciated!

Prefer someone in DC.

It's not DC but the Teal Center at Arlington Hospital Center is AMAZING. They were able to get me from barely sitting to pain free!

you might need physical therapy. I went to my orthopedist when my shoulder started killing me at 29 weeks. he said the pain was common in pregnancy, as your posture shifts.

after about three weeks of PT (twice a week), I'm totally better. I have to keep up with my exercises, but they're easy. I can do them sitting at my desk.

and in the midst of my PT, I did end up getting an AMAZING prenatal massage at Well Being Massage at 20th and P:

the therapist I saw was Nicole. soooo good.

hope you feel better!

Second the recommendation for the Teal Center, if you're willing to go to Arlington, close to the Ballston Metro.

If you work in downtown DC and are looking for something convenient, I had a very good experience with Elizabeth at Bliss.

I've heard great things about Spa on the Hill -- they specialize in prenatal. But you might need more than a massage. I've had awful sciatica and neck pain, and my midwife sent me to both PT and a chiropractor. They have both been helpful. I hope you feel better!

Sandy at Spa on the Hill. Do not hesitate - she's wonderful, and it's a lovely little spot.

So glad you posted this. I'm 24 weeks and feel the exact same way (and have for the past month now!) I can hardly even sit in my chair at work, and am currently sitting here with a heating pack on my middle back area. It is SO painful. I hate complaining about it, but I can literally hardly move!

Pp here - accidentally hit the send button. Anyway, her name is Amanda Long, just google "A Long Massage" to find her. She will come to your house with massage table, etc, and will just use your stuff - pillows etc to accommodate the belly. She'll set up whereever you want her to - we usually do it on the patio, it's so peaceful to feel the sun and fresh air Her rates are really reasonable and she is so down to earth, you'll wonder why Anyone ever goes to a salon.
