recomended water safety/ floatation devices for 2 year old

Anyone have any good recomendations for floatation devices for 2 year olds?

We're heading to the beach this summer with our 2 year old twins and I thought I would get them some type of floaty vest or water wings for them to wear on the beach and also in the hotel pool. Our hotel has a small pool -but not a kiddy pool - and we would be in the pool with them but wanted to find something that would help them stay afloat while we were holding them. Last year when they were 1 we had the floaty rings with the seats for the pool and they worked out really well, but I think our twins are too big for them now and would like another option especially since our kids have had no swimming lessons yet.

Also - at that age - is it overkill to keep the floatation devices on your kids while they are playing in the sand just in case? We obviously will be watching them at all times - and I know things can happen even while wearing a safety device, but unlike our beach trip last year, our twins are so much more mobile. I know I sound clueless, but it's getting hard to deal with twin toddlers running in different directions and being around water makes me want to be even more cautious.

why not get those bathing suit vest sorts of things, there are ones that are not that bulky, some are even part of the bathing suit, I would avoid the floatings that just sit on the arms, they never stay on

We got a puddle jumper for our DD (2.5 last summer) and it's been perfect. Keeps her afloat without restricting her movement too much, and is Coast Guard approved. We had water wings before that, but they have a tendency to lose air. So I really appreciated having something more dependable. And the Coast Guard approval was an added bonus as we can put her in this for any boat rides, etc. We found ours at target, but here's the amazon link to the product:

13:57 again.

No - I don't think it's overkill to keep this on at the beach. We kept it on our kid, and saw other children in something similar. Obviously we are also watching them at all times as well, but water safety is nothing to mess with.

It really depends how fast your kids are, but if you have speedy LOs (and of course twins too), I would not hesitate.

flotation devices on the beach are extremely dangerous. the child can be carried away if you let go slightly.

if they don't have anything on you'll hold tight and won't be encouraged to relax your grip.

for the pool it's another story but I'm bias. I'm totally agains them anywhere.
