Cool party favors

What was the cutest/coolest thing your kids got?

I'm planning DC's party early in the Summer months and trying to think of something useful.

The bags will be kid's version of the famous reusable grocery bags we see everywhere. Inside I'll put some good quality sweet treats and maybe a toy or two. I wanted various small things to fill up the bag. What's your suggestion?

Oh, and I'll ask them to take a bunch of balloons on their way out.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Little books
A pair of cute socks
Bubbles and stickers always have a room in our heart.

I like little age-appropriate books as well.

Honestly? In 7 yrs we never received a party favor that I thought was "cool".

We have enough books, trinkets, candy, crayons, etc and so forth to last us a lifetime so getting those from a party aren't very special.

GOLDFISH!!

Ha ha, kidding.

I always think books of any type (coloring/activity books too) are good. I don't even mind cheap little toys, but I REALLY hate goody bags filled with candy, particularly since the kids always want to eat them right after they've just eaten cake.

I personally like to do goody-bags that go along with the theme of the party, if there is one. So, for a train-themed party, we'd give out toy trains, cheerleading party we'd give pom-poms, etc.

We did the little coloring books - look at

I also included one washable marker to go with. The thought being the child can color in the car seat on the way home. But I always tell the parent if there is a marker or crayon or anything that can draw.
Bubbles
Play doh

I appreciate these things in ones we get. We can always use more play doh and bubbles and coloring books. We also get a lot of stickers and tattoos. Those are ok; my children aren't into those, but every child is different.

I personally don't like the small plastic trinkets - they usually end up in the trash and are a choking hazard for smaller siblings. I also don't like it when they have candy. But that's just me.

I think the reason for a party bag is to get the hyped-up sugar loaded kids out the door with as minimal melt downs as possible. It literally is something to interest them for 10 minutes.

I think nothing would be the coolest

Bubbles are fun. Also Kazoos or Harmonicas (if you can stand it!)

Kill joy.

Coolest thing I've found so far is a massive package of glowsticks that you can form into bracelets. Don't know how they'll go over yet as the party isn't for a while.

i like this idea!! maybe you could even throw in a little towel - buy some washclothes from target (i think they're $5 for a pack of 8 or 10) and then have the kids use fabric paint to draw on them at the beginning of the party and send them home in the goody bag with the "beach bag"

What about a reusable water bottle? It'll be great for summer, and works with your reusable bag as a theme

Anything but a bag full of cheap plastic crap like those damn parachuting things that don't work.

My favorites include puzzles and kites

The coolest thing we got were dinasour eggs that you put in water and waited until they hatched. Honestly for years bubbles and play dough were the best thing since sliced bread. Glow sticks. A good book were great for parents but not well received by kids. Kids loved receiving a recorder but as a parent they were way TOO noisy. Again younger kids liked stickers and coloring books but ones with good crayons - not the really cheap ones that don't color. Another favorite was a wooden birdhouse with markers to color it.
