I am going to have a glass of wine. Or four.

Just spent three hours getting back to Alexandria from Chinatown. I couldn't ask my husband to load up our five month old and toddler to pick me up at the King Street metro. I took a cab, and after getting in the taxi, the driver refused to take any road off of Duke street. I don't live on Duke street, so I had to walk. A loooong way in the snow with inappropriate shoes and clothes (that is my fault.)

I sung "Mr. Cab Driver" (Kravitz) during the trek to make it tolerable. That man shouldn't have taken the fare if he couldn't get me even close to home. That said, I berated him in my head only, as he is going to have a bitch of a time getting home to Maryland. Don't think Duke street extends that far.

So yes, I am going to enjoy a glass of wine tonight. And telework until noon.

Snow storms are a free pass for lots of wine. Think about the baby boom this area experienced after last year's blizzard.

Cab drivers have the right to refuse to pickup a passenger, the right to refuse to go to a bad neighborhood, and the right to refuse to go somewhere in inclement weather. Be garteful he took you as far as he did because he didn't have to.

Wow, OP. I feel for ya. I might have a glass tonight in your honor, and all the others who had dreadful commutes. I was lucky enough to be home today. DH made the lucky decision to stay put at work for awhile. His co-workers went not more than two lights on Rt 50 East, in a span of about 2 hours.

Horrible!!

Cab drivers can't say they will take you home, then only drive you part way and demand you get out and fork over the fare. Uh-uh.
