Schedule for 5 month old

What is your day like with your 5 month old? I thought that I was finally getting a routine with my DS but all of the sudden he is fighting naps and bedtime. He is starting to wake at 4 am. Last night he was up at 2 then at 5. I'm curious about waketime, feeding schedules, any night feedings, naptime, etc... TIA

My DS has totally changed his speeling habits in the past week as he approaches the 5 month mark - before this he was waking between 7-7:30, out the door to the nanny-share by 8:10, maybe he might fall asleep in the 20 minute car ride, maybe not. He does not have a set nap schedule during the day, but on the weekends he tends to fall asleep around 10 for about an hour and again at about 2 for another hour if we are at home - if we are out, all bets are off since the stroller and the car put him to sleep so well. Our nighttime routine is much more structured. He gets a bath around 8-8:30 (when I notice that he is rubbing his eyes), we read a book, he nurses and then goes right down. He was sleeping until 3-4 am but now he is up at 12 and again at 4. From what I understand from my other mother friends is that this can be a growth spurt or he could be uncomfortable from teething (which I believe to be the culprit) - hopefully it will pass soon!

My DS started about 10 days ago fighting going to sleep at night. He used to go to sleep pretty easily at 7pm, with a few brief wakings during the night, and then up around 6am. Now it's more like 8pm when he finally goes to sleep and then he may wake up briefly and need comforting several times between 8 and 10 before he finally stays asleep for about 3 or 4 hours. He usually has at least 3 wakings during the night. This past weekend, he started resisting naps as well! I'm hoping it's just a stage that will quickly pass. I know he must need more sleep than he gets...

This is our schedule with our 20-week old:

He usually wants to get up at about 6:30am, but we can sometimes delay this to about 7:30am with a quick diaper change, maybe a bit of a bottle, and by bringing him into our bed (if he isn't there already).

He wants to play when he first gets up and then he will have a bottle at 9am or 10am.

He usually takes a short morning nap (usually 30-minutes) at about 9:30am or 10am.

Lately, his afternoon nap has been from 12-4pm! (We think he is growing since he's not acting sick.) Prior to this, he was taking a nap from about 2-4pm.

We give him a bath (every other day) btwn 7 and 8 pm, immediately followed by a bottle. He usually is asleep at exactly 8:30am with the bottle still in his mouth.

He has not yet slept thru the night. Lately, he has been waking up at about midnight or 1:30am for a bottle. He will usually wake up again at around 4am (and only want to drink an ounce.) For the past week he's been very alert, playful, and talkative at these 4am awakenings. If he's not hungry or his diaper isn't dirty, I really try to ignore him. I don't want to get up and play at 4am! I will bring him into our bed though, and that always soothes him. After about 15 minutes, he goes back to sleep.

There was a period of time when he only woke up once during the night, but that has changed. He is rolling on to his tummy (and sleeping that way) and he keeps making crawling movements which cause him a lot of frustration (because he can't crawl yet, of course) and eventually wake him up. He's constantly in motion. Sometimes his foot even gets stuck btwn the slats in his crib... or he'll end up completely turned around in the crib.

This describes my 4 1/2 month old exactly! It's nice to know there others are going through this stage. I was initially worried about the tummy sleeping (esp. b/c DD does not always turn her head to the side) but the ped told us it was fine. I am just not sure how I would breathe if my face was mashed into my mattress.

Our schedule is like this if DD's at home (she goes to daycare part time):

7:30 wake up, diaper change, then nurse, then play, then back to sleep around 8:30 until maybe 9:30 or 10. this repeats basically throughout the day although lately she'll nap once in the morning and once in the afternoon. also, we are only nursing twice, once in AM and once in PM. otherwise she is just playing or feeding or perhaps I take her on a walk or on an errand or two in which case she'll nap in her carseat.
6:30-7 is bathtime if we are giving a bath, then nursing, then she'll usually fall asleep or get drowsy enough to put in her crib.

she is and has been a good sleeper and sleeps through the night, so we feel very lucky in this respect. hope this is helpful!

I nurse my 5mo at 6:30 then he gets a bath (every couple of days), I change his diaper, put on pjs, read a story, and give him his Trivisol drops. He goes to bed between 7:30 and 8:30 (depending on whether we did the bath and/or how sleepy he is). Last week, he went through a few days of waking up every couple hours and we feared it was teething, but no teeth have showed up yet and he's back to "normal." Whew!

He's up between 6-6:30 am. On the 3 days I work, we nurse, then if he's awake he goes in the swing or on the playmat while I get dressed. If he's sleepy he goes back in the crib instead, then I wake/change him before we head to daycare. At daycare he gets a bottle of EBM every couple of hours, and naps a couple times, usually 45 min - 1 hour.

On the days I'm home, we're more relaxed. After the early am feeding, he snuggles back in bed with us, often falling asleep for an hour (we had a blissful 2.5 hour nap over the weekend - heaven!) Then he's up and tends to nurse every 3 hours or so, napping whenever: if I'm running errands he may take a few short naps. If we're home, he'll take fewer but longer naps. . .
