Less expensive Mont. County preschools?

Looking for preschool in Montgomery County (we live in Rockville) that might be on the less expensive side, but still good....any thoughts?

What do you mean by lesser expensive? What cost are you looking to pay?

The YMCA has a pre-school ar Arylawn thar seems to be reasonably priced and still has openings for fall. I looked at it last week. We are not going to apply b/c the student to teacher ratio was a bit high for us plus I prefer a coop, but the facilities are nice and there is parent envolvement and the kids all looked happy.

Bradley Hills Nursery School in Bethesda is affordable and has an excellent reputation. I think Coops are the only way to get the cost down much below theirs.

We are starting at the Montgomery Child Care Association Park Street Center in Rockville soon. It is full day. It seems like a cross between preschool and a full day daycare center. Around $1000 a month. Parent reviews were good.

There are a couple of parent cooperative nurseries right in Rockville. They are both half day, with a lunch extension option. But a parent (or nanny/grandparent) must be available to co-op (work in the classroom as an assistant) about 1-2 times a month. They are MUCH cheaper than a typical preschool, but a wonderful, nurturing environment.

Westmoreland Children's Center! My son goes for 3 mornings a week for $450. Small classes, great teachers.

If you don't mind the "religious twist" (although thy told me they weren't heavy on it) try the New Day Methodist preschool: http://www.newdaypreschool.org/

Very very cheap at 230 for three mornings if I remember correctly. They have a good reputation and are very close to the Rockville library.

Kensington Cooperative Nursery School is very inexpensive. But it's only part-time and you have to co-op and help out. Tuition is under $100/month for 2 mornings/week for a 2 yo.

Try looking for a co-op if you stay home or have flexibility in your job schedule. My kids go to the Garrett Park Co-op and we have had a great experience there.

My kids go to the Garrett Park Co -op. For 3 year olds, 3 mornings a week I think it is around 185 per month. You also have to help out in the classroom once or twice a month and hold a "job" in the school i.e. supplies purchaser, room parent etc. The school is located right near Grosvenor Metro and White Flint mall so is not too far down the pike from Rockville.
