Inexpensive gift ideas for wonderful husband who doesn't want anything

Anonymous
I have a wonderful husband whom I'm still madly in love with after almost 10 years together. We are comfortable financially (not wealthy) but in general we are both just practical/frugal people by nature. Despite racking my brain and repeatedly fishing for ideas for him, I can't seem to come up with anything other than just getting him some new clothes, which frankly seems a little lame to me (even though he would appreciate it and be thankful.) He did give me 1 or 2 ideas for small items (under $20) he'd like, and of course I'm getting those, but I'm trying to think of at least one nice surprise for him. (In the $50 - 75 range, so an iPad is out.) He's also not into coffee or video games - we spend most of our free time taking care of the kids/house, with TV being our main "hobby" and the occasional date night. Exciting, I know.

Any ideas?

I'm like your husband, I told my wife I don't want anything and I mean it.

I'm also some what frugal and like to take care of things around the house myself. Here's a list of some of my favorite things that he might not have bill will probably like: 1) a good, simple pocket knife. I treasure my Laquiole picnic knife (just a blade and a corkscrew). But another good one is the Opinel No 6 Carbon Steel Folding knife. This is a gentleman's pocket knife. It is just wooden handle with folding blade; 2) Stanley 15" Super Wonder Bar® Pry Bar; 3) a 2-1/2 Lb. Blacksmith Hammer (its a small sledge hammer); 4) Stanley® FatMax® Retractable Utility Knife; 5) Black & Decker Ratcheting ReadyWrench; 6) Fiskars 62-Inch Pruning Stik.

I'm getting my husband a pair of comfy, warm slippers. I noticed his are totally worn out and it's not something he'd buy for himself.

If you guys watch lots of TV, what about one of those snugglee blankets that have arms? I know, cheesy, but I got one for Christmas last year and I love it.

Whoops, it's called a snuggie, not a snugglee.

Nice comfy pj pants. I know that's not in the 50-75 range but they are practical. I know my husband changes into some gray ones while we are watching tv. Maybe that with some nice slippers? Uggs are in the 50-75 range.

I got my husband a watch last year for $80. His old one was fine, getting a little worn. This one is dressier and more interesting. We're not into status symbols, so a nice-looking $80 watch was as good (better) to him than anything more expensive.

I second the slippers and loungewear suggestions.

You could get his car detailed.

I got the complete DVD set of a favorite TV series for my birthday, and have really appreciated being able to go back and watch favorite episodes. That might work with the TV hobby.

XM radio for his car, great cheap music all year long!

Does he like to work out? I bought my husband a real speed bag and a BOSU last year and he loved them. I also bought him a tool belt for his home project -- he really liked that as well. Whenever he works on something he carries in all his tools in his hands and then has to lay them out somewhere and go up and down ladders or back and forth to a table so the tool belt he really liked.
