Hi,
My electrician gave me his estimate on installing a gas line generator, $9800. I think it's pretty expensive, so I'm looking to get another quote. If you have any good recommendation, could you please post the company contact info? Thanks! |
I highly recommend IES in Baltimore -- www.neverinthedark.com. We've had 2 generators in 2 different houses and their price and quality of service is terrific. Good Luck!

pp here -- just saw your other listing on organizers and saw you're in Potomac. We're in McAuley Park so don't be concerned that they won't service your area.
|
that is way over priced. These companies are ramping up their sales and aim high and hope you buy it. If you say no, watch them drop it. Don't pay more than 7 but alos check sears, they have good ones pretty cheap

Hi -
Thank you all for your great comments. The estimate, 9800 includes getting a permit, a generator and a installation fee. I definitely want to explore other options... Thanks again. |
one thing to think of ... we had a whole house generator previously. this time we powered all the first floor, the bedrooms and just heat - not a/c. Our thinking was in the summer we can always get out - to the mall, movies, library, pool, etc to cool off. But in the winter, in 2 feet of snow you can't! |
That's a good point. Last winter snow storm was horrible. |
We did what a previous poster said, powered for heat, the tv, the washer-dryer, the sump pump, and a few other things but not for A/C as in the summer you can always go someplace. You can't do that ina snow or ice storm. Oh and we powered freezers too. You want to stay warm, have entertainment and keep your food eatable. We used PSP products and ours cost about 8K for everything, genorator, installation andpermits. |
Thanks for posting this OP. We're looking for the same thing before the winter sets in - last winter was horrible in our neighborhood.
PP, what are PSP products (did a yahoo search, but ??)? |
buy the "EU" series Honda generators. They are portable, quiet and dependable to plug in the essentials. Much cheaper than a standby unit. |
