ISO - Is this area safe? New carrollton, MD 20784

Hi,
A friend of mine is visiting the D.C. area from overseas and her hotel is near by Annapolis rd. New carrollton, MD 20784. Is this a safe area? Thanks. |

Is it the Howard Johnson's? That hotel is OK. The area could be better.
What is she looking for in a hotel? Price? Location? Metro? |

| As probably one of the only DCUM's who has actually lived in New Carrollton (and I still have friends who live there who I visit regularly) I'd say it is safe enough. Your friend will not see many white faces, and potentially hear people speaking in a variety of languages, but it is an okay area. Not super pretty, not affluent, no fancy dining or shopping, but fine. It's a short drive from there to the metro, which will give her great access to the city. The location is also good for heading in other directions, like Baltimore or Annapolis. |

I live in the area, and my parents regularly stay at the Courtyard Marriott in New Carrolton. It's a nice hotel.

Thanks for your response. The hotel is "Metro Points Hotel-Washington North". It looks O.K. in the photos, but I'm not sure... I told my friend to stay in VA area.

She found the hotel from Expedia. She chose that hotel for price and metro location. |
