For those who had a double chin in middle age and lost weight, did your neck develop wrinkles or visible signs of aging as you lost fat under your chin?
Wondering what's in store for my neck... !
|
| It’s not going to disappear |
| It will sag as the fat empties out. |
Can this be alleviated with slow, rather than fast, weight loss? At 45, is there hope my skin can respond in that way? |
| How much weight? |
15lbs on a 125lbs petite Asian frame with bird bones. I have tiny jawbones and have always had a double chin all my life, and I'm wondering what'll happen if I lose that weight. |
| Yes, it’s common for some loose skin or mild wrinkles to appear under the chin after weight loss, especially if the skin has lost elasticity with age. Regular neck exercises, good hydration, sunscreen, and gentle moisturizers can help improve firmness and slow further aging |
| I think it improves but doesn't go away. |

I had a double chin and have lost 75 pounds in the last two years. I have some slight wrinkling in my neck. I definitely notice it and don't like it, but it is subtle enough that I doubt anyone else does.
I had a consult with a cosmetic derm a few weeks ago and she said something about it, but it doesn't bother me and so I'm not going to be getting whatever treatment there she mentioned, because it's $$$$. Wish I could remember what it was to tell you, but I don't. I was much more concerned with the fact that my face is not sagging, lol. |
I'm the pp at 10:14 with some neck sagging. I'm 55. When I was your age I lost this amount of weight as well, and no neck sagging then. Hopefully that will be the case for you. Both times I lost at a rate of 1 to 2 pounds per week. |
Thanks, PP, very helpful! |
| I'm starting a club called the Turkey Gobblers for people that hate their neck if you want to join. I'm the President. |
