I crave nothing more than a night on the sofa but we're off to a holiday party tonight.
Need to put in an appearance and really like the people. I'm just spent. What's your go-to move? Show up right when it starts and duck out early? |
| I don’t drink coffee normally, so I would have a caffeinated tea a couple hours before, or maybe even one third of a red bull. That’s a short term fix for having no energy. |
| I had to do this for a sit-down dinner party when I was very fatigued from my auto-immune disease (nothing contagious). Luckily my husband, who is usually not social or chatty, made a special effort to converse. By the end of it, I was physically leaning on him for support. If it's more of an open house, come-and-go party, you can just make a brief appearance. |

A little caffeine beforehand to wake you up . Don’t be the first guest but try to time it so that you’re not late but the party is a little underway. That gives you some extra time to get yourself ready. Skip the alcohol and focus on spending time with the people you enjoy. Leave on the earlier side and enjoy a good nights sleep.
|
| It's what, 6 hours at least before you need to power through this party? Take a nap. |
|
Nap now. Caffeine later.
I was like this last weekend. Ended up having a lot of fun. |
Stay home and stop dragging other people down with you |
| A lot of it is just sucking it up and getting yourself there. I feel like once you're there, especially with people you know and like, it's easier. |
| Why are you so spent? If you don’t want to go, don’t go. Is it a crappy party, usually? |
| You’ll be energized once you get there. |
| Nap, take a bath, have a nice coffee, play fun/christmas music and a glass of wine while you get ready (and take your time getting ready). Hype yourself up. It will be okay. Have fun! |
| I make sure that I have a quiet, low-key afternoon before the party. Nap is ideal but if I can't nap then I just sit on the couch watching a movie or reading. It is usually difficult for me to sit still and not work on a project but forcing myself to rest mid-day has made a huge difference for back to back nights of holiday fun. |
