My 11 month old DS has very thick feet. Robeez and other similar shoes are thin (vertical, not accross) and the elastic mark leaves a deep mark. I went to stride rite and again the shoes are long enough but they are super tough to get him in and they too leave a mark. Any good shoe recommendations for fat feet? |
I'm having the same issue. I bought Robeez in the largest size and only use them if I have to use them. DS usually goes barefoot because nothing fits his feet. I did find that the size 6/7 Crocs for little feet fit when DS HAS to have shoes on. Please note he is not walking yet so they are basically just a covering, not using them for walking. |
There was a thread on this a while back, you might want to search and take a look at it. My DD's fat feet fit well into Pedipeds (Robeez were a complete no go), but other people haven't had the same experience. |
I'm the OP from the other fat-footed baby thread. Sounds like our babies have the same thick feet.
Pedipeds will not work for your baby! I had him fitted at 2 very good children's shoe stores, (Ramers and Shoe Train). Both recommended that he go barefoot until he's walking. Once he's walking, there are some ugly Stride Rites out there that do fit, but just look really bad. There are about zero choices for babies like this. Just hope that one day, his feet slim down a bit. My 3.5 yo DD was/is the same. She can now fit in a few "party shoes", but will never be wearing stilettos! |
If you do a search online, I know you can get patterns/materials to make your own Robeez-type shoes, or have someone who's into sewing do it for you. Might be something to look into. |
Here's a site that sells the patterns:

My DS had fairly skinny legs and feet till he was about a month old, and now, at 3 months, he has inflatable feet! I guess there are lot of chubby-foot babies out there. |
There's a Canadian brand called Shoo Shoos which I found were perfect for thicker feet (DD had narrow feet which meant she was a Robeez girl, we had Shoo Shoos that were the right length, but never fit properly because she had thin feet). |
OP here - appreciate all the info. I just ordered a pair of shoo shoos and hope they fit. I will post a reply when they arrive.
Thanks! |
