What are the odds of a close proximity home/school being re-zoned to a much farther?

Anonymous
I know there is a comprehensive FCPS study under way but I cannot find current proposals (formal or informal) or options for re-zoning online.

What are truly the odds of a home close to its current school pyramid being re-zoned to a far school pyramid?

The specific example is homes in Chesterbook Meadows are 1 mile from Mantua Elementary and 2.2 miles from Frost Middle and 2 miles from Woodson High.

Does FCPS re-zone boundaries so drastically that the schools could be re-zoned to Falls Church High School 3.5 miles away?

OP here: I meant the community is called Chesterfield Mews. oops

3.5 miles is drastic? For high school? That is not in touch with the realities of Fairfax County.

Ok, so that's one vote for: they could do this easily.

True! Never lived in Fairfax County this far west of DC. Gulp.

I would only guess current walkers are safe.

Smart, thank you!

Falls Church High is getting an expansion. I don’t think you are in the clear at all, though proximity increases the odds that your children and family won’t get screwed over.

3.5 miles vs. 2 miles is far from drastic.

Ok it's not drastic- I shouldn't have used that word. I just looked at a map and it doesn't make sense, that's all. I was more so wondering if they do re-zoning on the margins or more aggressive re-zoning.

Makes sense, thank you
