| Okay Miss Buffet--if you were a top earner-you would basically not be getting a mortgage deduction because mortage deductions are all but phased out if you earn over 250K. If you would like to donate your money to the good of society--by all means do but..that doesn't mean the rest of us shouldn't try to help our families. |
| There is no way someone who earned in the top 2% paid only 15% in taxes unless of course they were cheating on their taxes. |
| According to the Washington Post gizmo, I will be voting for Chris Dodd. Lucky for Hilary that American elections are not decided on the basis of "the issues" - she has my vote to lose - I want Bill Clinton back in the while house. |
I had the same thought |
Whereas, for me, Dodd was a close second after Edwards when I completed the gizmo, which makes me want to take a new hard look at Dodd...aren't you at least curious about your own results? (I'll agree many answers were the essentially the same substantively from all candidates but I think you can still pick up a lot from the nuance of how answers are framed.) |

I have nothing against Hillary, however I think we need a fresh family in the White House.
Bush Sr. - 8 years Vice Pres Bush Sr. - 4 years Clinton - 8 years George W. - 8 years As much as I like Hillary I do not want another Clinton in the White House, I want some new blood. Too many years have gone by with the same people making decisions. |

PROUD TO BE:
1)American first, but specifically African American 2) Female 3) An independent, so I WILL vote based on who I feel can get the job done. I LOVE Obama, but he simply doesn't have enough international affairs experience. I sincerely hope he will reconsider the vice presidency, Hilary is going to win the primary. I also surprisingly really like McCain, can't understand why Republicans aren't behind him, but then again, who in the hell can understand how Bush got elected ? In my opinion, the next best thing to getting Bill "back in office" is a vote for Hilary. |
| Bush has been great-tax cuts tax cuts tax cuts... low unemployment, growing economy--Die hard Republicans are not behind McCain because he didn't vote for the tax cuts in 94 thus he really isn't a conservative. |
| I will vote for Obama or Clinton, or McCain if he wins the Republican nomination. |

Wow! this post is ancient!
Virginia primaries are Tuesday Feb. 12. - Mom for McCain |
| I'm a momma for Obama!!! |
Are you completely in the dark about politics and the state of this country? If Bush were a true conservative he wouldn't run the country into severe debt to pay for those tax cuts or to be in this war. TRUE conservatives are FISCALLY conservative. Newt Gingrich is appalled at the lack of restraint this White House has when it comes to spending. That's a true conservative. Low unemployment? I guess you missed the fact that it's going UP UP UP. Growing economy? Every single top bank in this country is down BILLIONS of dollars, the dollar is worth 50 cents in Europe and foreclosures are stilll rolling in. What good economy??? He has to give tax cuts because he's forcing the states to raise taxes so high - he gets to look like the good guy while you are still paying more taxes!!! |
Why do you think having a black president is a good/bad change? Ever been to Philly? I would vote for a Republican, hopefully McCain. I really like him and think he will make a great, strong president who believes you have to pull up your own bootstraps. I get so damn sick of hearing that the rep. don't supply healthcare, welfare or any other free fare you could ask for. So the hell what. Why should my taxed pay for someone elses inability to take care of themself, or their children. Get a damn job, flip a burger, pick up some trash, do anything. I do not believe in a free ride for any one for any reason. |
Have you actually read the newspaper recently? Like for example the top article currently in the Washington Post about how Federal Reserve Chief Ben Bernanke is strongly recommending an economic stimulus package to stave off a recession?? |
I think that an African American president is an extremely positive change, as it enfranchises a group that has traditionally been disenfranchised in the US. As for the rest of your post, you really have a fundamental lack of understanding of the cycle of poverty. I don't know what else to say beyond that. |
