Am I the only one getting eaten alive by mosquitoes?

Is it mosquito season or something?!? In the past few weeks I cannot go outside without getting eaten alive... and this is in the evening, not even at night. I can't even keep my windows open at night, mosquitoes come through the screen! I like to keep one cracked but I have been getting bitten to death. Just now I walked outside for like five minutes and got four bites. I killed one that was lingering near my head but my legs got bitten.

So annoying. Come on cold snap.

ME TOO! I just got 5 bites in less than 5 min while I was outside! It is horrible! And on top of that, I get scars mark from the bites.... UGH!

Thank you! I thought I was going crazy. My BF does not seem to be bothered... I had one terrible night recently where I left my window cracked and got bitten all.night.long. I woke up and there were a bunch of dead mosquitoes in my floor lamp.

hmm haven't had any problems here.. I grew up in Maine, and every summer it's BRUTAL up there... So maybe I just haven't noticed in comparison..

OP and second poster here... I live on Capitol Hill and it's kind of low (despite the hill) and marshy... I hadn't had this problem earlier in the summer so it must be the season for it. I just can't wait for the first frost

Yes it is really bad. The kids and I get bitten alive in 5 minutes and my husband never gets bitten. I heard that mosquito's bite those that give off more carbon dioxide.
Here is an interesting link:

OP here. Interesting link! Thanks!

Now I am inside with the windows closed and feeling phantom bites. Great!

They haven't been too bad where I live, but there are tons by the home of the boys I nanny for. By the time I walk in the front door I usually have several bites on my legs, and if we try to play in the backyard we get swarmed. They're even bad in full sunlight there - I think they are breeding underneath someone's porch or something.

They have been so bad in MD since early June, that I have to wear long sleeves, pants, full socks & sneakers, and a mosquito netting hat in the yard. And I still get bitten. Little bastards bite my wrist if it shows at all between the gloves and sleeves. I feel like I garden in a sauna. However, I was outside in shorts for 5 minutes yesterday and got only 3 bites. A miracle. Maybe they are finally dying off.

It is so bad that I almost never even go outside anymore. I have always been a mosquito magnet, but this summer has been insane. I was outside unprotected for maybe ten minutes, and when I came in I counted forty-six bites, basically covering my entire arms and legs--yes, forty-six; I counted them. And these weren't little bites, they were the giant welt-type bites. My husband said it was a miracle I hadn't gone into anaphylactic (sp?) shock.

This is the worst time of year for mosquitos. For some reason, the bites linger longer too -- I have four enormous welts (like fist-sized) on my upper thigh right now. they haven't shrunk in three days.

OP here, mine look like huge welts too, when I put some ointment on them they go down in about 30 minutes and look kind of like zits. I have them on my chest, wrist, and ankles right now... attractive. I made the mistake of leaving my windows open the past few nights because it was so cool out and got bitten all night long. I have taken to wearing repellent at night now and keeping my windows closed until all the ones inside die off.

I've been eaten alive all summer. Many times in the morning walking to the car. I've had more bites this year in FFX County than I ever had for 7 years in Gaithersburg. It reminds me of summers growing up in Anne Arundel County where there is a lot more water.

what takes away the itch -- not kidding, did not believe it but it works instantly ... get a fresh basil leaf, bend it so it is moist and rub on the bite. Smells decent too.

Interesting. I may try that, but ironically, I am bitten most often while tending my tomatoes and basil plants ... the mosquitoes have gotten more food out of my garden than I have!
