Thermage, Lipo or ... ?

Anonymous
Here is the situation:

Mid-40s mom of two kids. The youngest is 5, so I can't really call myself post-partum anymore...

As my metabolism has slowed down in the last couple of years, any extra pounds land right on my stomach. I don't work out much, have a long hours desk job, but have managed to stay reasonably thin except for my stomach. I am probably carrying somewhere between 6 and 11 extra pounds - the 11 being my dream weight - getting down to "model skinny" - although I haven't seen that number in probably 2 years.

I am thinking of either lipo or Thermage to help get control of my middle, and am trying to do abs and other workouts as time permits. I am confused about which would be right for me. When I was four months PP with my youngest, I saw a plastic surgeon who said I was a bad candidate for lipo because I didn't have that much fat but that I needed a mini tummy tuck. The recovery sounded terrible so I didn't go through with it. If I was a bad candidate for lipo at 4 months PP, I am not sure I would be a good one now, but I also don't want to spend a bunch of money on Thermage if it isn't really going to help. I have some loose skin but not a lot. I don't know if I have enough extra weight now on my stomach to make lipo a better choice than it was then.

This sounds like a vain question, but I have actually been feeling really bad about myself and my stomach. My husband is very fit, and I can't help but think he is going to leave me soon if I don't do something about this. I am sick of feeling like I am wearing a fat suit all day and feeling like everyone must be looking at my stomach. Please save the snarky comments about vanity for people who are not already borederline depressed about the way they look.

I am not judging you for wanting to do this, I think it's something that we've all thought about, but what I will say, is that if you really feel that your husband is going to leave you over a few extra pounds around the middle, than perhaps he's contributing to the way you're feeling about yourself?
