Infants, Toddlers, & Preschoolers
I think it's cruel that when babies finally start "social" smiling and laughing and being awake more during the day (and you can begin to tell what their personalities are like), and if you are not a SAHM, that's when maternity leave ends! Nice! DD is such a happy baby right now and her smile just lights up the room, and I have to be back at work (can't afford not to work). Just a rant that this is such a great age and M-F I'm at the office

I am a SAHM right now, but wasn't always.. When My DD was 2.5 months old, I had to go back to work.. You're right, it's such a difficult thing when maternity leave ends.. But, in some ways, going to work was actually easier for me knowing the love that I was coming home to...
Absolutely. It sucks. The first three months are a blur of crying and sleeplessness and exhaustion -- then, things settle down, the baby starts to become SUPER lovable, and poof, you have to go back to work. So cruel.
But the loves, and the snuggles and the smiles, and giggles will be waiting for you when you get home... Days off will be super special, everything's more special when you have that new addition to your family..
Yep, it sucks. Especially since DS's most smiley time is in the morning, but I can't sit around and enjoy it because I have to shower and get ready. And then in the evening, he goes to sleep very soon after I get home.
