Music Class - Miss Amy's or DCJCC?

Anonymous
Looking for a class for a 9-10 month old and would love feedback on these two...

Is one better than the other? Or is there another one we should consider? We live in NWDC.

Thanks!!

Which is more conducive to making friendships with other moms?

Miss Amy's is fantastic (we have done both and the DCJCC is good but prefer Miss Amy).

Who is Miss Amy? How do you get in touch with her?

Miss Amy's Music Makers--google it.

We've done both, and we've enjoyed Miss Amy's. At the JCC, most of the adults were nannies, but on Saturday music classes with Miss Amy's, most of the adults were parents.

I love Miss Amy's. I'm a nanny with a 9 month old girl, and it's a fun class!

Miss Amy's is really good, but she's expensive and a little too interactive with parent-on-parent patty cake and the like. little steps music also has classes throughout DC and does some (all) through the DC Parks and Rec. It's the same curriculum for a much more reasonable price. I had Miss Patty and like her.

whether your class is more moms or more nannies is kind of a crap shoot, i think. my miss amy 11ish class was all moms. my little steps 11ish class was mostly nannies. i think miss amy may let you move around a little if you end up in a class with more nannies, but i'm not sure about that. i have no clue about who flexible little steps is.

i'm not sure music class is the best way to meet other parents, but that may be because i haven't tried very hard in my classes (I took the first with friends and didn't feel up to the effort in the second class)so much will depend on the dynamic of your particular class.

Miss Amy's class on Saturdays or in the evenings is all parents, most classes are very friendly. I often see a lot of families from the class at area parks - Pierce, Kalorama, Mitchell, Stead. Classes during the weekdays have a lot of nannies and seem very crowded. Haven't done the JCC but prefer Miss Amy to other Music Together classes. I have to say my own sense of rhythm has improved. Have fun OP.

Does anyone in the leesburg/sterling area take those kinds of classes? What age groups do they have them for? And are they pricey?? I am CONSTANTLY looking for new, fairly inexpensive things to do with my little girl and she LOVES music.

Love Miss Amy's but haven't tried any others. We switched from an am class (mostly nannies) to the 3:45 pm class (more moms).
