Where did OP say they had a sump pump? I've owned a few home in the DMV and have never had a sump pump. And yes, I know for sure.

That’s crazy to me! I’ve lived here forty years and every house has had a sump pump. You can’t build without one today and for I don’t know how long.

The app says we consumed 215 mW in 2023. What gets me is that last week—-when we were out of town, we were using 16-20 kW per day. The lights were off. Out heat is gas, so nothing there. We have an energy star fridge of normal size plus one older smaller fridge in basement — but Google says a fridge should only use 1-4 kW per day. I unplugged all the appliances before we left except the TVs (which were off). What is using all this energy?????
Any ideas? This is driving me nuts. I noticed the same thing last time we went on vacation.

For context, how much, IN DOLLARS is a typical month vs the month that include vacation?

Your water heaters run a few hours to keep water warm. If it’s a electric water heater with a tank

I had a friend with high electric bills doing everything she could. Turns out her meter was reading incorrectly and needed to be replaced by the utility company. They even refunded her some money.
