Hate the doona (car free car seat advice)

Oh, and the Doona doesn't have "no resale value" - there are three available for $375 each on Facebook Marketplace in DC right now. Presumably, you could unload yours for $300 no problem.

I loved my Doona, but I never used it without the base.

This isn’t true. It was designed and tested to be used without the base. That said, it’s definitely supposed to be the exception and not the rule and all car seats are going to be much harder to put in and take out on a regular basis if you’re not using the base. You need a vehicle, OP. For convenience yes but way more for safety. I would never trust someone else driving my kid every single place we need to go in a car seat with no base.

It is the easiest thing in the world with the base. The others don't have the stroller function. Op should have started with a regular one, then she'd appreciate the Doona.

I loved my doona and used it frequently without the base. Super easy seatbelt install - but admittedly if the seatbelt seemed too short just did the American install with tight lockoff.

I'm also car free loved my Doona and am sad my kids grew out of it. I liked the versatility of having a stroller and car seat in one.

I'd recommend the Cosco Scenera. It's attached via the LATCH system in the car and can be used for longer than the Doona. It's what we used when our LOs got too big for the Doona.

Does anyone have a Doona they don't need anymore? I have a 14-week-old, but can't afford to buy one.

So I think what you want is the Nuna Pipa Urbn, the problem is it only comes with the strollera. It has a baseless latch system that you literally just plug in to any car without any straps or belts. Maybe there's one available second hand?
