I'm looking into a glider vs recliner vs rocking chair for our nursery, rather corner of our bedroom.
Any pros and cons or suggestions? I originally thought I wanted a combo but now I'm thinking that a recliner would be risky and encourage laying back, resting and I'm so paranoid of falling asleep with baby. And then classic rocking chairs worry me with little fingers eventually crawling around or just not being comfortable enough to nurse in and cuddle. Any glider recs? Is the swivel feature helpful? I know I'm overthinking. Very much so. But Maybe I'm being irrational about the recliner? |
I think you want a glider that rocks and reclines. I agree about your concern regarding traditional rocking chairs and wouldn’t get one for that reason; however, a lot of gliders rock, too, without the same risk. I also think the ability to recline is vital even if you’re only comfortable reclining when the baby is older and it’s safer, but we’ve had to spend many nights sleeping in that chair so it’s a necessity in my opinion. We have the Babyletto Kiwi, which I actually don’t love, but you can find many similar models. (In my opinion, the buttons should be on the outside of the armrest as I struggle to access it when DC is on that side.) |
PP above. I would also say a footstool or ottoman is also essential. We have the matching gliding footstool. |
We got an Addison rocker from La-Z-Boy and still use it in our three year old's room for bedtime. It was great for nursing, and nights where DC needed someone in the room with them (not being held). We've slept in that chair MANY times. |
I went with the monte recliner and matching ottoman, it was great for pumping/breast feeding and some hard toddler sick nights |
