I don't see any posts about how dirty the Dutch play...

just saying... much worse than the Uruguay hand.

I really hope Spain wins.

Why worse? They got carded. The kick to the chest should have been a red.

Because it was every game constantly, Van Bommel is so dirty, they are disgusting.

Well, the justice has been served. Spain!

It feels almost like watching Argentina been beaten up!!! LOL Great job Spain, congrats!

On a side note, Suarez was smart. He played smart using the rules. He used the hand and took the consequences... nothing wrong with it.

There's also a lot of acting going on, making clashes look worse than they are. My kid's games are very similar and they hardly ever get yellow cards.

Have you seen the Dutch play? Did you see the kick in the chest in this last game? I am 100% sure your kid's games are not as dirty as this

Good job Spain!!!! congrats!!!!! the other team did not deserve to win, they played really dirty!!

Holland played dirty against Germany, and they played dirty against Spain. Fortunately, the Spanish players didn't let this rattle them (too much - they did miss a couple of juicy changes to score!) and didn't let themselves get baited into doing something rash out of anger. The Spanish team was there to actually play football, not engage in theatrics and cynical behavior. Too bad the game was so dull, though. Anyway, congratulations to Spain!

A few of Spain's players got theatrical.
18:40 My son's games can get wildly physical. No kicks in the chest thank goodness. We've had opponents target and take out our strongest players. We had one game where there was onetwo cards and three yellows.

I'm probably in a minority on this, but ...

While that cleat-to-the-chest clearly was a foul and deserved the yellow card, it did not look intentional to me. I'm guessing that was why the referee did not give a red card. It really looked like the Dutch player was trying to play the ball. Also, he pulled his foot back very quickly rather than following through on the kick, and gave the my-bad signal immediately.

It still looked pretty gruesome though.

It looked to be a pretty bad kick, but I think it was UNintentional.

If you watch closely, the player didn't have his eye on the ball but was looking at the guy he ultimately kicked. That is usually the determining factor for red vs yellow. If you're following the ball and making a play on it, you'll get a yellow. But if you're not even looking at the ball, you're clearly not making a play on it.

I think he was just tracking the ball before it got headed. It was midfield, so there was no real game-changing reason to commit an intentional foul. And if he just wanted to hurt the Spanish player, he could have crushed the guy's chest rather than pulling back his leg. He never should have had his cleat that high in the first place, and it was definitely reckless, but I just don't see it as intentional.
