Can I hire a real estate agent to find me a rental?

Depends, but it's rarely half that goes to the agent bringing the tenant.

In Virginia it's 10% to 25%.

In DC & MD we see anywhere from 25% to 50%.

That’s not always the case. If you look at listings online, some of them will say that the renter pays the commission.

My tenant paid his own fee. He hired a realtor to look for places. Since he paid he has access to all places.
