Infertility Support and Discussion
|
I had a successful pregnancy last year at age 40 with the microdose lupron protocol. Just started TTC #2 and did the same protocol again which only resulted in 5 eggs. My RE suggested the Estrogen protocol next but said it was my call - the results could be better or worse...
I'm curious to hear from anyone who has done with protocol and what your experience was... |
| I am a personal fan of EPP. I had a miserable response on MDL - I had dominant follicles and had to convert one cycle to IUI. My responses on EPP were much better (9-10 eggs) and I even got pregnant (though m/c) on this protocol. Some women get oversuppressed by the estrogen and don't respond as well, but you won't know how you do until you try. Where are you cycling? I only ask because some clinics in the area use this protocol with more frequency than others. |

I had success with EPP after failing with other protocols. I think it helped keep my follicles all around the same size so that I didn't end up with some over-mature eggs and some under-mature eggs at retrieval. Some clinics use EPP more than others. In my opinion, it's good to be at a place that uses it a lot.

| I'm at SG. At my last retrieval I had 6 on the left and only 1 on the right going in (according to my last ultrasound) then it turned out the left didn't produce anything and they got 5 from the right. |

I'm 40 years old and currrently pregnant after my EPP cycle. I had success with EPP (4th IVF cycle) after failing at a Long lupron cycle #1, a MDL flare #2, as well as antagonist cycle #3. If we want another child, we will absolutely go EPP.

Wups, 14:46 poster here. Wanted to add with the EPP cycle, I retrieved the most eggs of any cycle at 13 with 12 fertilized. Amazing numbers. All other cycles I had only 50 % fertilization. Needless to say I was estatic.

| For those of you who have used estrogen priming protocols, where did you receive treatment? Are there any clinics in the DC/MD/VA that used it on their patients? TIA. |
| I didn't respond any better with EPP than with other protocols - still had a dominant follicle and only retrieved one egg. |
| Dr. Sacks at CFA uses the EPP almost exclusively, I think. I did a round of EPP with him. I have heard SG doesn't use it unless a patient really pushes for it. I have no idea about DF. |
| SG does use EPP, but you do have to push to use it. |
| SG offered it to me - I didn't even know about it so no push was necessary. Guess it depends on your doc there. |
| I finally got a BFP after switching to EPP with Dr. Sacks. My response wasn't any better than the high dose antagon I was on at other centers, but for whatever reason it worked. Also, it seems that not all EPP approaches are a like. SG and Cornell use a different EPP than Sacks. |

I just went to Dr. Sacks today and I am going to try EPP. Given my extremely high FSH (85), this is about the only option I have. (I have been told by pretty much everyone that IVF is not an option for me.)
SG wasn't even willing to try it (and certainly did not suggest it). |
| I did MDL with a poor result of only 4 viable fertilized eggs (14 retreived, 7 fertilized and only 4 survived to transfer day, all poor quality). My RE switched me to EPP, and I got a total of 20 eggs, 18 of which fertilized, 6 of them were Grade 1 top quality. Amazing difference and better than I would have though since I am 41! |
