futsal ball -- size 3 vs size 4

My 10-year-old daughter plays futsal during the winter, and outdoor soccer during the spring and fall.

I'm going to buy a futsal ball for our own training. The league uses a size 3 futsal ball through age 11, and size 4 for ages 12+.

I'd like to go ahead and order the size 4 ball rather than buying a size 3 ball that we will only use for another 12 to 18 months. Is this a mistake, with respect to training and development?

My kids are older and prefer to train with the smaller ball. We have both, but they feel like it just requires them to be sharper with their touches and it’s not hard at all to adjust to the larger ball for practices and games.

We’ve gotten better use out of our Select futsals (vs Nike and Puma). Maybe that is just dumb luck, but they seem to absorb the wear and tear well and hold their air a little better. Some of the other ones we have need to be re-inflated every couple of days.

It would be hard to quantify a developmental difference for using a size 4 now instead of the size 3. Unbelievably, our travel club lets the kids practice with size 4 balls instead of size 3, and run FUTSAL clinics with size 4 balls, but they use size 3 in the games.

Developmentally it is better to train with the smaller ball, but it's hard to say how much better. I think as long as you are training at home consistently, that is the more important thing! I know this answer is not exactly helpful, however, if I were to buy one for my daughter, I would buy the size 3.
