Did you use a sperm bank?

Has anyone used a sperm bank to have thier child, and if so, which cryobank did you use? Thanks!

We used Fairfax Cryobank...I know there have been complaints about it on this board, but we had a good experience & two lovely DD's....The biggest downside is that because it is relatively local, there could be a bunch of my girls' half siblings living locally (think dating, marriage)...

Yes, Northwest Andrology. Great prices, service and quality of sperm. Took 3 IUI tries for us.

Fairfax also. Have 2 kids from the same donor.

I just had a new customer signup that runs a sperm bank that caters to US customers seeking European sperm.

I was somewhat amazed by this offering but now it makes decent sense.

Yes! I used nw cryobank 2 vials & the first try did the trick and I did at home insemination no doctor needed!

We used California Cryobank, after searching for donors on spermcenter.com.

I liked working with them.

I used the Fertility Center of California and California Reproductive Services.

Can you explain this a little further? That would be so much easier for me..

fairfax cryobank. perfectly fine experience. have ds.

not sure there is a big concern about local half-siblings. i've registered on the donor sibling registry and there are half-sibling all over the country. no more in this area than anywhere else. i think it is a cryobank that serves the whole country.

We tried with California Cryobank. They were decent to work with. Be careful if you're using anonymous sperm to do home inseminations in MD - you need to have a "letter from a physician regarding successful insemination" in order to do a second parent adoption. I don't know how that works if you do home inseminations.

i used fairfax. i registered on the donor sibling registry and there are ALOT of half-siblings...i was shocked. but not all in this area, actually very few in this area so i am not sure the concern about marrying a half-sibling is worth worrying about!

We used TSBC. It is the only non-profit sperm bank in the country, and the phone counselors there are very helpful (and will tell you sperm counts, for free, before you buy). I would highly recommend them. http://www.thespermbankofca.org/

I used Pacific Repro svcs. They are in N. and S. CA because I wanted a wide choice of willing to be known donors. I didn't like all the negtive things I had heard abt Fairfax plus I have lived in the dc area too long. I wanted 'willing to be known,' not the remote chance of ending up with a donor I knew!

Also, just because there are no reported half sibs on the donor sib registry doesn't mean there aren't any. My son has no sibs reported on the registry, but a number of people had reported successful pregnancies to the bank. Thus, he has sibs out there but hopefully mostly on the west coast.
