The Mid-Atlantic girls fall season is roughly half-way done, and here are the overall club results:

VDA has only played 4 games, and mostly against lower table teams, so they should drop in the coming weeks. Some of the other clubs have had easier schedules and some harder, but it's useful to see none-the-less. I'm sure there are a few errors. Enjoy.

ps. I can't get the formatting to stick, so improvised. Sorry.

I'm not saying VDA isn't good and wasn't trying to throw any shade. I just wouldn't expect them to average slightly better than 3rd place across all age groups when the season is over, based only on where VDA's teams finished last year, that's all.

Meanwhile, in the other league ... there is one DMV club with 4 wins and 3 draws after 28 matches (covering six age groups). I'm not a scholar (... or maybe I am), but I hope those players/families are getting the return on their investment.

I'm not sure I get the flex here. It's only worth playing on a team if it's winning? Every time a team wins another team has to lose. They can't all be winning teams. Sports would suck if people quit just because they were on losing teams.

For better or for worse, evaluating a club's overall win/loss record is just one way to assess that value. (I don't want to imply that's the only thing that matters.)

If an entire club is coming up short in terms of on-field performance against other top-tier clubs, I am hoping that its customers are getting something they value out of the experience.

Let's me say it another way, Club A costs $2K a year for your great player. Nearby Club B costs $5K. If the top teams at each club are in the same league (or an equivalent), and Club B simply doesn't perform as well as Club A, then I think it is reasonable for Club B to offer something that makes its experience worth the additional $3K. If two shops sold the same burger, would you go out of your way to pay $50 more for that burger? Maybe if you got something else that helped justify the difference.

Ok that's a lot of hypotheticals and abstractions. Seems like maybe you have a beef with club B not being worth what they charge. Why not just come out and say what you mean instead of dancing around. It's an anonymous forum.

Every family is doing these value assessments every year and voting with their dollars. Club B's customers are getting something they value or else they wouldn't be paying the money. Clearly it's not enough value for you to pay that money, and that's your right to make that judgement for yourself. But why is it important to you that other families value Club B the same way as you? Live and let live my friend.

I'll chime in, for elite players it doesn't really matter, your DC we be identified by all

For middling players or bottom players, it may make sense to see who is good in the region and try to get your DC on one of the "top" teams; if that is the goal!

It's fun to look at the rankings to see which club is performing better than the others.

Honestly, if your child is not on the top team nor on the top club, and is not top tier, just enjoy the process and the memories. You probably shouldn't care where clubs are ranked, and pay too much attention to what your record is. My DC is; but more important that club, team rankings; is how may DC will show at national events and be recognized. He/She teams success is all good, but not the bottom line, I guess it comes down to what your expectations are and where you see your DC playing at the next level; if the next level is and expectation. DM me for any additional info.

Anyone know how they pick girls for the national selection game? I see some girls we've played against on the Phoenix NSG teams that raise and eyebrow.

Coach recommendations. Usually only get one opportunity.

Thanks. I figured as much, but didn't know if colleges request certain players to get into the biggest game.

No. Just have to suck up to your coach. Selection is all about how buddy buddy you are to the coach.
