Car Dealership Service/Repair Rip-Offs

Drain and fill needs less than 4 quarts. If fluid level was low then source of leak (gasket?) needs to be diagnosed. Was the filter replaced?

There needs to be more accountability with the car dealership business. Whether it is service or sales, they are a bunch of crooks.

Signed,
A single woman who has been scammed a multitude of times by several mechanics 😠

That's why it's always good to keep a mechanic on the side as a good friend.

After 30 minutes at the dealership, I got a quote for $2400, and they said it had to be done immediately or risk damaging the engine. I told them I need to think about it and let them know later in the day. One of my work colleagues's son is a mechanic specialized in Toyota, and he checked the car. Within 15 minutes, he told me that the car needed new transmission oil and only cost me $50, including service. I paid him $50 and $200 in tip. The car is running fine after the transmission oil change. What a ripoff from the car dealer service.

Dealer was probably quoting a new transmission & installation.

Let us know if the simple fix works.

Used car dealers used to have quick, cheap fixes for transmission problems tat were only temporary masks of the real issue. (Used to put sawdust in bad transmissions to disguise the problem.)

Hopefully, it was just a simple issue.

Where are you taking your car to?

I took my car to a dealership for inspection and they said I needed for them to fix a cracked whatever. Seemed shifty so I took my car to a repair shop that said there was nothing wrong. The repair shop put it in writing and I brought the letter back to the dealership. Manager there dug in his heels and refused to acknowledge their error.
Never have gone back. Inspections are such a racket.
