Are there any affordable private schools in the DMV are that are NOT religiously affiliated? Most of them are in the 30's and 40k's$$$ ?
Thanks! |
Do you have a specific geographic region in mind? the DMV is huge. Many of these schools offer financial aid. |
I would like to stay within 30 minutes of DC in any direction. Thank you!!! |
Try the Baltimore privates. They are a bit cheaper. Most secular DC schools are well above $30k and most are now over $40k. |
This ... still doesn't help? 30 mins from Deanwood is very different than 30 mins from Tenleytown. BUT if you're interested, I think this would be outside your radius, but it's a great school with sliding scale tuition. Check out Indian Creek School in Crownsville. |
The Catholic Schools
Friends Community School Smaller Innovative schools like: The Springwell School Silver Oaks Co-operative Some Montessori's are close to $30 SSFS is about $30 for Lower School |
I hit submit too soon. The Catholics are definitely in the religiously affiliated camp and may or may not fit your needs.
The Friends schools are religiously affiliated but with a religion that has no set teachings and very simple values. |
For elementary grades, Montessori or Waldorf options tend to be more affordable. |
OP said NOT religiously affiliated?? |
1. The financial aid is going to be better at many of the religiously affiliated schools than at secular schools. 2. Admissions are going to be easier at many of the religiously affiliated schools... More k-12 schools which have higher endowments. 3. Your secular school options are limited to K-8 and very few k-12 schools and 3-12 options. They know there is a market for secular schools and they benefit. My suggestion is to stop looking for a unicorn and find a few options you can live with and apply. |
Ideaventions
Sycamore School |
Basis Independent McLean : $33,000 for 5-12th grader |
There are very few affordable, non-religious privates. |
Micro schools, like Mysa and Templeton. (But micro schools are not for everyone.) |
