ISO- flying ants in the house

Hello,

I'm new to the area (moved from West Coast) and I have a flying ant problem in the house. Does anybody know if it's a seasonal issue in this area?
If you know any good solutions, could you please let me know?

Thanks in advance.

Don't termites look like flying ants? You should call a professional.

I'm with the PP. I've been here for over 12 years and the only flying ants I've heard anyone complain about are termites. You need a professional.

I had flying ants and at first I thought it was termites. It was awful but to make a long stroy short, I had to call an exterminator because nests had been laid in curtain rods. It was an old house and exterminator told me the entire crawl space above ceiling was a huge ant colony. I got rid of them. You should call an exterminator because you want to know if they are ants and, definitely, need to know if they are termites. Terro is the product I have found for getting rid of ants.

We do have flying ants in this area (typically carpenter ants) but I agree that if they are in the house you should have it checked out. They could be coming in around the windows, but they could also be living somewhere inside the walls or floors.

Hello,

Thank you very much for all the helpful comments.
Since I have a baby and a young kid, I would like to know if it's safe to spray the crawl space and such. Also, since I'm renting my current place, would it be easier if I just pay someone to take care of the problem?

Call Ward Pest Control. Mr. Ward is very responsible. I'm sure he could tell you what options are safe. But I would ask to speak to him directly so that you can hear from him about it.

renting? talk to your landlord asap!

They are likely termites--this is the time of year you will see them swarm.

Call your landlord. This is his/her problem to resolve.

Flying ants are either termites or carpenter ants....both of which will destroy your home. Call someone quickly. In the meantime, put tarps or sheets up to isolate them from the rest of the house.
