New Soccer Rankings App

The biggest benefit of the YSR system coming back is for Tournament Coordinators. Makes things much easier to balance in hopes of avoiding lopsided tiers. Nothing is perfect but it is certainly better than what GotSoccer has to offer. GotSoccer probably should have hired the guy after NBCParticipationTrophy bought him out.

Anyone have the link? The SoCal website isn't working for me.

Go ahead and search for Soccer Ranking on your mobile device. Scroll till you see an avatar with a standard soccer ball. The app is literally just called Soccer Rankings and the developer is Mark Lewis. Hope this helps!

That site's rankings are all over the place. Looks worse than Got Soccer.

I like the rankings app a little bit. The game history seems pretty accurate when looking at my DD’s team....each win the team we beat had a lower ranking most draws and losses were equal ranking or higher...the couple of wins over teams I thought were better had a higher ranking...9.6.....maybe that’s the teams overall strength...it’s definitely close enough to use as a guideline of the team you are playing...IMO

Site is woefully poor. Some teams have like 20 games, other 6. There's no rhyme or reason to why games are registered, but mostly because the site can't scrape ECNL well. Oh well

I agree this site's rankings are terrible, but so is gotsoccer, so I'd say about equably terrible.

I am using the site created by the former creator of YSR. It is much better and different than the site to which you are referring. It is simply called "Soccer Rankings" in the AppStore.

+2. I thought the sites owner had to make that comment about "added rankings" because the site is so bad. It doesn't even have the #1 team in Maryland for an age year listed in the app.

Yes, the app is good, but not that website that was referenced earlier.

MadridFan wrote:From the SoCal Soccer Forum, there is a new youth Soccer Rankings app to replace the old YouthSoccerRankings site - https://www.socalsoccer.com/threads/youth-soccer-rankings.20477/page-4

Hello -

Since the youthsoccerrankings.us website was shut down at the end of March, I have been working long hours to create a new and improved system that runs as an app on your phone or tablet. Please check it out by searching for "Soccer Rankings" on either the Apple App Store or (in a few days) the Google Play Store.

In this first release you can view rankings for all teams from U10 to U19, view results, see game result predictions and correct errors in the team entry or playing record. I hope you will help me to get the data as accurate as possible. Some improvements you will see over the old system.

* More results.
* State rankings based on geographical state (e.g. CA, NY, OH, PA, TX)
* Better automation of merging results from different websites.
* Instant update to the rankings if you make corrections.
* Score prediction and win probability for any pair of teams.
* More predictive ranking algorithm.
* Secure tracking of who makes changes so we can block user's editing rights if they make careless or deliberate errors.

The next release will include bug fixes plus club rankings.

I would greatly appreciate it if you would spread the word about the new app in your soccer community. Hopefully we can get this into the hands of competition organizers and improve the experience of traveling teams across the country.

Please let me know if you see any issues or have any ideas for improvements.

New contact information: support@usasportstatistics.net

Kind regards,

Mark

Brilliant! Thank you for posting this

The developer Mark is also responsive and helpful if you have suggestions or questions.

If you are confident about your local club knowledge, you can assist the app by linking up different records and correcting names.

For example at u13 there are a few clubs who kept a team but renamed it ENCL (RL), linking the old record to the new creates a more accurate ranking.

The other item I saw a lot of when reviewing was a team that was in a tournament under one name, but had their ENCL (or RL) record under another. Bringing those together is very helpful for the rankings.
