My son has had an ear infection on and off for the last month and Im starting to get a little worried. Hes been to the doctor and given antibotics 3 times and the infection will go away and then pop back up again. He is teething so Im not sure if this is the cause but I eas wondering if anyone else has had this experience and also if anyone has any rememdies that have worked for their baby hes 11 months old. Thanks

one thought- If he's still drinking from a bottle- make sure he is ALWAYS sitting more upright rather than laying down. When a baby drinks a bottle laying down it can cause ear infections.

We're on ear infection #3 as well, but over 3 months, not 1. The doctor told us that he's not concerned now, because they are so common in winter with all the colds going around. He said the infections will most likely stop as it gets nicer outside and people aren't passing around so many bugs.

I'm hoping that holds true!

I really think it's the teething with my baby. Everytime she starts teething again, her ears get infected. We make sure to keep her upright while she drinks (as PP says) and we don't let her have a bottle in her crib ever. I really think it's a phase. It's a tough phase though. We also give her motrin when she's clearly uncomfortable because it brings the swelling down and hurts less. This probably helps with the teeth as well.

I wish you luck. You are not alone.

Thanks so much for all your input. I went to the doctor today and he said my sons ears look alot better on eis completely cleared up and the other still has some fluid but not as bad as before. He recommended that I use drops to relieve the pressure from my sons ear. The drops consist of fresh chopped garlic and olive oil he said to waarm it on the oven and then make sure its only warm to the back of your hand and then place 2 to 3 drops in his ear and place cotton balls so it doesnt leak out and to do this 2 to 3 times a day. Sounds crazy but I did it tody and hasnt tugged on his ear so far so I dont know maybe it works.

DS has had four ear infections in four months. he is 9 months. I feel so bad for him, but doc is unconcerned. I really feel like I want to take him to an ear-nose-throat specialist, but I also don't want to overreact. my boy has been to enough doc's appt's as it is! good luck!

mine has not had an ear infection since I stopped with the antibiotics and used an ear candle instead. It has not come back since I used the ear candle.

Both my kids had frequent ear infections until they were off the bottle and walking. Don't know why, but both these things happend just after 1 year for us and this was the turning point in both cases. It's good to get off the bottle just after a year anyway so keep that in mind.
