It's hot. Most kids take the summer off. It's probably somewhere in between competitive and waste of time.

Most kids do not take the summer off. Not most of higher level playing kids that we know. My kids love super y. It's s especially great if you have a good coach. Bonus points if it's a new coach to your kid. The games ARE hot and miserable for parents but most kids that sign up don't mind. If you are taking alot of vacations it's probably a waste.

My kids really enjoy it. It is a fun chance to play on a mixed-abilities team, and get to know and play with different teammates. If you are looking for a team entirely made up of the very most competitive players, it is probably not for you. However, my kids' teams have generally nevertheless done pretty well overall.

I would say no. There are plenty of opportunities to play soccer in the summer from local pick-up games to camps absolutely everywhere and when you get older college id events as well. The games a lot of the time are on turf and your feet just melt in the sun.

The answer is it depends on what you or your dc is looking for.

For my dd, 90% of the team was playing Super Y, so it was basically and extended Spring season, getting them ready for Fall. You typically get 2 practices a week and 7-8 games, so again if that sounds good to you, then it makes sense.
